Saint Isabel of Portugal
Saint Isabel of Portugal (1271–1336), also known as Elizabeth of Portugal, was a queen consort celebrated for her piety, charity, and peacemaking. She was married to King Denis of Portugal and mediated conflicts within the royal family and her kingdom. Isabel was known for her devotion to the poor and for founding hospitals and charitable institutions. After her husband's death, she became a Franciscan tertiary and continued her charitable works until her death.
