Saint Nolwenn
Saint Nolwenn is venerated as a Breton virgin and martyr from the early Christian period. According to tradition, she was a missionary from Wales who settled in Brittany and devoted her life to Christ. She is said to have been martyred for her faith near what is now called Sainte-Nolwenn in France. Nolwenn is particularly celebrated in Brittany, where many churches and a town bear her name. Her cult remains important in western France, although historical details are limited.
