B. Eugene III, Pope

Pope Eugene III (c. 1080 - July 8, 1153) was the 168th pope of the Catholic Church, reigning from 1145 until his death. He was born Bernardo di Pisa and was a Cistercian monk before being elected pope. As pope, he oversaw the Second Crusade and worked to reform the Church. Eugene III is venerated for his piety, humility, and efforts to maintain the unity of the Church during a tumultuous time. He is the patron saint of the Cistercian Order.
