Saint Marie-Azélie Guérin, mother of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
Saint Marie-Azélie Guérin, known as Zélie, was born in France in 1831 and became the mother of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. As a skilled lace maker, she ran a successful business while raising her large family in a devout Catholic home. Zélie is recognized for her dedication to her faith, her perseverance through suffering, and her loving care for her children. She died in 1877 after a long illness and was canonized alongside her husband, Louis, in 2015.
