Angelina of Marsciano

Saint Angelina of Marsciano was an Italian noblewoman born in the late 14th century who is best known for founding the community of women known as the Franciscan Sisters of the Third Order Regular. After becoming a widow at a young age, she dedicated her life to service, charity, and the religious upbringing of young girls. Angelina led a group of women who lived a life of poverty and prayer in imitation of Saint Francis. She was noted for her humility and spiritual leadership, which led to the spread of her community throughout Italy.
