Alphonsus Liguori
Saint Alphonsus Liguori was an Italian bishop, spiritual writer, composer, musician, artist, poet, lawyer, scholastic philosopher, and theologian. He founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) dedicated to missionary work among the poor. Renowned for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his influential moral theology, his writings helped to shape modern Catholic doctrine. He was canonized in 1839 and declared a Doctor of the Church.
