St. Hyacinth of Cracow, dominican priest

St. Hyacinth of Cracow was a Polish Dominican priest who lived in the 13th century. Born around 1185 in Kamień Śląski, he was a relative of the Polish royal family. After studying in Prague and Bologna, he joined the Dominican Order and became a renowned preacher and missionary, spreading Christianity throughout Eastern Europe. Hyacinth is particularly venerated for his miracles, including his ability to walk on water and extinguish a fire with the sign of the cross. He died in Cracow on August 15, 1257, and was canonized in 1594. St. Hyacinth is the patron saint of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and the Dominican Order.
