St. Mary de Mattias, Virgin,Foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ
St. Mary de Mattias (1805-1866) was an Italian Roman Catholic virgin and the foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ. Born in Vallecorsa, Italy, she dedicated her life to serving the poor and establishing religious schools. Mary de Mattias was a mystic who received visions of Christ's Passion and promoted devotion to the Precious Blood. She was beatified in 1950 and canonized in 1975. St. Mary de Mattias is the patron saint of the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ.
