Sts. Abbondio and Ireneaus, Martyrs on the via Tiburtina
Saints Abbondio and Ireneaus were early Christian martyrs who were killed for their faith in Rome during the 3rd century. Abbondio and Ireneaus were companions who traveled the via Tiburtina road, preaching the Gospel and ministering to the faithful. They were arrested, tortured, and ultimately executed by the Roman authorities for refusing to renounce their Christian beliefs.
