Bartholomew the Apostle
St. Bartholomew was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is traditionally believed to have been born in Cana of Galilee. After the Resurrection, Bartholomew is said to have preached the Gospel in India and Greater Armenia, where he was martyred by being flayed alive and then crucified upside down. He is the patron saint of butchers, tanners, and bookbinders.
