Louis IX of France
Saint Louis IX of France was king of France from 1226 to 1270 and is renowned for his piety and fairness. He led two Crusades, founded hospitals, and worked to reform the French legal system. Louis was known for his charity to the poor and his devotion to the Church. He was canonized in 1297 and is the only French king to be declared a saint.
