Saint Louis

Saint Louis

St. Louis (1214-1270) was the King of France from 1226 until his death. Born in Poissy, France, he was a devout Catholic who sought to rule his kingdom according to Christian principles. He led two Crusades to the Holy Land, though both were ultimately unsuccessful. St. Louis was known for his piety, justice, and compassion, and he is venerated for his virtuous life and service to the poor. He is the patron saint of France, Secular Franciscan Order, and against venereal diseases.
