St. Pammachius, Member of the Roman Senate
St. Pammachius was a prominent member of the Roman Senate in the 4th century. Born around 340 AD, he was a wealthy aristocrat and patron of the Church. After the death of his wife, Pammachius devoted himself to works of charity, using his considerable resources to establish hostels for pilgrims and the poor in Rome. He was a close friend of St. Jerome and supported his biblical translations. Pammachius is venerated for his compassion and generosity towards the less fortunate. He is the patron saint of innkeepers, hoteliers, and the hospitality industry.
