B. Alfred Hildefons Schuster, Cardinal, Archbishop of Milan
Blessed Alfred Ildefonso Schuster was a Catholic cardinal and Archbishop of Milan. Born in 1880 in Rome, he joined the Benedictine order and became a renowned scholar and theologian. Appointed Archbishop of Milan in 1929, he was elevated to the cardinalate in 1929. As archbishop, he was known for his pastoral care and efforts to aid the poor during the Great Depression. Blessed Schuster died in 1954 and was beatified in 1986 for his holiness and service to the Church. He is venerated as a patron of Milan and for his contributions to liturgical studies.
