St Catherine of Genoa, Widow
St. Catherine of Genoa (1447-1510) was a Catholic mystic and humanitarian. Born in Genoa, Italy, she devoted her life to caring for the sick and poor. After a profound spiritual experience, she became a tertiary of the Augustinians and spent the rest of her life serving the needy. She is known for her deep contemplative prayer life and her treatise on purgatory. St. Catherine is the patron saint of nurses and the falsely accused.
