Saint Matthew
St. Matthew, also known as Levi, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ and the author of the Gospel of Matthew. He was a tax collector before being called by Jesus to become his disciple. After the Resurrection, Matthew preached the Gospel in Judea and later traveled to other regions, eventually reaching Ethiopia, where he is believed to have been martyred. Matthew is venerated as the patron saint of accountants, bankers, and customs officers due to his former occupation.
