St. Eustachius, in his Church
St. Eustachius (also known as St. Eustace) was a Roman general who lived in the 2nd century AD. He was a pagan who converted to Christianity after witnessing a vision of a crucifix between the antlers of a stag. Eustachius and his family faced many trials and tribulations for their newfound faith, including being thrown to wild beasts and eventually being roasted alive in a bronze bull. He is venerated as the patron saint of hunters, firefighters, and those facing adversity.
