Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki

Saint Demetrius was a Christian martyr who lived in the 4th century. He was born in Thessalonica, Greece, and is believed to have been a high-ranking military officer under the Roman emperor Maximian. Demetrius was executed around the year 306 AD for his Christian faith. He is venerated as a martyr and military saint, and is the patron saint of Thessalonica. Demetrius is particularly honored for his courage in the face of persecution and his miracles, which include the protection of the city of Thessalonica from invaders.
