Saint Lawrence O'Toole, archbishop of Dublin
Saint Lawrence O'Toole (1128–1180) was the first native-born Archbishop of Dublin, serving from 1162 until his death. He played a crucial role in mediating between the Irish and Anglo-Normans during a time of great turmoil. Renowned for his charity, ascetic lifestyle, and deep prayer, he took part in church reform and cared for the poor. Lawrence died in 1180 in Normandy, and he was canonized in 1225.
