Elizabeth of Hungary
St. Elisabeth of Hungary was a Franciscan tertiary who lived from 1207 to 1231. Born in Bratislava, she was the daughter of the King of Hungary. As a young woman, she devoted herself to a life of prayer, charity, and service to the poor. She founded a hospital in Marburg, Germany, where she cared for the sick and dying. Elisabeth is venerated for her deep faith, compassion, and commitment to helping those in need. She is the patron saint of bakers, homeless people, and the Third Order of St. Francis.
