St. Columban, Abbot
St. Columban, also known as Columba or Columbanus, was a 6th-century Irish monk and missionary. Born around 543 AD, he founded several monasteries across Europe, including Luxeuil in France and Bobbio in Italy. Known for his strict adherence to monastic rule and his missionary zeal, Columban was a influential figure in the Christianization of Western Europe. He is venerated as the patron saint of motorcyclists and against pestilence. Columban died in Bobbio, Italy, around 615 AD.
