Blessed Pius (Ludwik) Bartosik

Blessed Pius (Ludwik) Bartosik was a Polish Catholic priest and martyr. He was born in 1909 in Lipno, Poland and was ordained a priest in 1933. During World War II, he ministered to the Polish resistance and was arrested by the Nazis in 1941. Bartosik was sent to the Dachau concentration camp, where he was brutally tortured and killed on December 12, 1942. He is venerated as a martyr and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1999. Blessed Pius Bartosik is the patron saint of priests and those unjustly persecuted.
