Saint William, abbot of Eskilso

Saint William, abbot of Eskilso, was an English Cistercian monk who became abbot in Denmark during the 12th century. Renowned for his piety and ascetic life, he introduced strict monastic reforms to his community. He was murdered by some of his own monks because of these reforms in 1203. William is remembered as a martyr for monastic discipline and is honored on January 10.
