St. Onesimus, Disciple of St. Paul
St. Onesimus was a slave who lived in the 1st century AD. He was the disciple and servant of the Apostle Paul, whom he served while Paul was imprisoned in Rome. Onesimus had previously run away from his master, Philemon, but was later reconciled with him through Paul's intervention. Onesimus became a Christian and went on to serve as the Bishop of Ephesus.
