Saint Isabel of France

Saint Isabel of France

Saint Isabel of France was a French princess, the daughter of King Louis VIII and sister of King Louis IX. She devoted her life to God, refused marriage, and became known for her charity and care for the poor. Isabel founded the Abbey of Longchamp and lived a life of prayer and poverty near the nuns she protected. She is venerated especially in France as a model of royal sanctity and humility.
