St. Soter, Pope
Saint Soter was the Pope of the Catholic Church from around 166 to 174 AD. He was born in Campania, Italy and is venerated for his leadership and efforts to strengthen the faith during a period of persecution of Christians. Soter is remembered for his compassion, particularly towards the poor and those in need. He is also credited with establishing the custom of the Pope sending the Eucharist to other bishops as a sign of communion.
