Saint George
St. George was a Christian martyr who lived in the 3rd-4th century AD. He was born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey) and served as a soldier in the Roman army. When he refused to renounce his Christian faith, he was tortured and executed by the Roman emperor Diocletian around 303 AD. St. George is renowned for his bravery and is often depicted slaying a dragon, which symbolizes his triumph over evil. He is the patron saint of England, as well as many other countries, cities, and professions.
