Saint Carmen

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary as patroness of the Carmelite Order. The devotion is linked to her appearance to St. Simon Stock, to whom she gave the Brown Scapular as a sign of her protection. She is venerated as a spiritual mother by Carmelites and many Catholics around the world. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is associated with prayers for aid, especially for souls in purgatory.
