Saint Alphonsa, of the Immaculate Conception

Saint Alphonsa was an Indian Catholic nun from the Syro-Malabar Church. She became the first woman of Indian origin to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Alphonsa lived a life marked by great faith and acceptance amid physical suffering. She dedicated herself to prayer and the service of her community.
