Saint Gislenus
Saint Gislenus (Ghislain) is traditionally remembered as a 7th-century monk and hermit in what is now Belgium. He is associated with the foundation of a monastery that grew into the Abbey of Saint-Ghislain near Mons. Medieval devotion honored him as a holy abbot and wonderworker, and his cult became widespread in Hainaut. He is often invoked locally for protection and healing, especially in places that bear his name.
