St. James of the Marches, Franciscan
St. James of the Marches (1391-1476) was a Franciscan friar and preacher who lived in Italy during the 15th century. Born in the Marches region of Italy, he joined the Franciscan Order and became known for his fervent preaching, commitment to poverty, and defense of the Catholic faith. He played a significant role in the reform of the Franciscan Order and was a skilled theologian and writer. St. James is venerated for his holiness, his devotion to the Virgin Mary, and his efforts to combat heresy. He is the patron saint of Franciscan preachers.
