Virginia Centurione Bracelli

Saint Virginia Centurione Bracelli was an Italian laywoman born in Genoa in 1587. Widowed at a young age, she dedicated her life to serving the poor, sick, and marginalized of her city. She founded the Sisters of Our Lady of Refuge in Mount Calvary and established institutions for children and the elderly. Her charity and organizational skills were renowned, and she died in 1651.
