Saint Emmanuel was one of the group of martyrs known as Saints Manuel, Sabel, and Ismael. These saints were brothers and Persian Christians who suffered martyrdom in the 4th century under the Persian king Shapur II for refusing to renounce their faith. They were renowned for their steadfastness and faithfulness to Christ despite severe persecution. Their cult spread from Persia through the Eastern and Western Churches. They are honored as examples of courage and fidelity in times of trial.
